As promissed in the last post: The Hungry Squirrel

This visit, by the way, was the first one where I felt the flora and fauna had finally recovered from the wildfires of 2003, the drought, and the bark beetles.
Initially Puff-Tail here darted about in this tree looking for any route to the railing that might enable him to avoid incurring the wrath of the blue jays.

The blue jays polished off the peanuts (or they thought they did because they didn't know I had a 1 pound bag beside me) and seeing the area abandoned, Puff-Tail moves in for the spoils.

(The dark shadow on the right of the picture above is the aluminum trim of our sliding glass door.)

Ahh. What's this? Bird seed? Well, I'd have liked some of those peanuts, but birdseed is good.

What's going on in there? What is that black box with the long nose you keep pointing at me, and why is it making those noises?

Really? How interesting. Imortalize me? OK.

This is pretty tasty. Where'd you get this?

What?!! Gross! Not that place (drops seeds)!

(Dusts off paws.) And you just sat there and watched me eat it?.

Fresh? You're sure?
Well, maybe I am being a bit hasty. Let me try one more little bite.

Yeah. 'Gotta admit, it is pretty scrumptious.

O.K. You twisted my tail. I'd like a little more please.

Thanks!

'Wonder what that blue one tastes like.

A peanut!? You had more peanuts?!

I LOVE peanuts!

In fact, the only thing better than a peanut is ... a-NUTHER (sic) peanut!

Oh, don't worry. If I get full I can just stuff them in my cheeks. Keep 'em comin'!

Got milk?

No? And no more peanuts? OK then, I think I'll be going.

Hey! Who ate all the seeds?

Running Springs

Last weekend was an eventful one. Friday I attended the funeral of a wonderful friend who, at the tender age of 47, succumbed to Cancer. The funeral service was very nice, but nothing makes up for the absence of our Larry.
Saturday Don and I attended the wedding of a former co-worker of mine. I haven't asked Steven if I can post pictures, so I'll resist for now.
Sunday, Don and I went up to our house in Running Springs. Don worked on his soil retention project while I loafed around (as usual) taking pictures of Pacific Steller's Jays and squirrels.

OK, well, I know I promised squirrels, but I'm already living dangerously expecting these some 21 images to load and stay put.
Stay tuned next posting for "The Hungry Squirrel." (smile)

Please tell me you are NOT eating my rose!
