Ever since we bought our little mountain house Don has wanted to reinforce the supports for the balcony. As time went on, he came to feel that the balcony should not be asked to bear weight so we stopped going out on it. Don's been shoring up the dirt at the base of it to keep it from tumbling down the mountainside and then he began digging a hole for an added post. Saturday he showed me what he'd managed to do for temporary support and then I helped (a little) dig the hole for the new post. Don wants to dig it another 3 or so feet deeper. We'll do that on our next trip.
Did I mention yet, that early last month Don and I planted 5 Butterfly Bushes in the middle of our yard? Yep! I'm afraid we still have a lot of work to do out there. It is not actually our intention to display beautifully aged, golden, sun-dried grass. The nursery explained the high price as the result of these being topiary Butterfly Bushes. Here they are now---some with---as promised---butterflies!:
