Valley Oak

Don and I went back up to the mountain on Saturday (9/15) so Don could get a little more work done reinforcing the side of the hill. I am always surprised at how quickly the scenery changes. Where just two or three weeks previous it had felt lush and full of wildlife, this time there was little wildlife to be found and I imagined I could hear the dryness in the rustling of the leaves. It was so dry in fact that up the road in Big Bear some communities had been evacuated due to a fire that was still in progress. We stayed until about 2:30, and then headed back down the mountain to avoid getting stuck behind a road block.
